| What is happening?
We’re writing to let you know about planned road closures and diversion routes at Black Cat junction between Friday 29 May and Monday 15 June 2026.
During this period, the A1 northbound and southbound will be closed on three occasions, the A421 eastbound will close on one occasion and the A1 northbound only will be closed on one occasion. Full details of the dates, times and locations are provided on the following pages.
These closures are needed so that we can continue making progress on the new junction and associated structures at Black Cat. For the safety of both road users and our workforce, temporary traffic management will need to be in place while these works are carried out. During the closures, we’ll be completing:
These improvements are vital to support the long-term upgrades planned for the junction, helping to improve safety, reduce congestion, and create smoother journeys for all road users.
